CarnEvil VR

Overview

CarnEvil VR brings Midway's arcade horror light-gun game to Meta Quest 3 and 3S. MAME runs the original game while the OpenXR host rebuilds its characters and scenery in stereo, and your tracked controllers become the lightguns. Depth 3D backgrounds are on by default, with the original look available in the VR menu.

[!NOTE] No game files included. Requires the CarnEvil v1.0.3 set: carnevil.zip (containing carnevil1_9.u32, sound102.u95 and 486_carnevil.u96) and the matching CHD carnevil.chd. No NAOMI BIOS is required.

Prerequisites

• Meta Quest 3 or Quest 3S.
• Your own carnevil.zip and carnevil/carnevil.chd.

Step-by-Step Installation

1. Install the APK via 1-click on QuestPorts or download carnevil-vr-quest.apk from GitHub Releases.
2. Put the ROM zip at /sdcard/Download/carnevil.zip. Keep it packed.
3. Put the disc image at /sdcard/Download/carnevil/carnevil.chd.
4. Launch CarnEvil VR from Unknown Sources, grant file access on the setup screen, and keep the Touch controllers awake.
5. Start the game. The controller guide appears after the splash.

• 3D strength and stereo separation controls, plus adjustable world size.

• Three reload modes, and Arcade or Zapper gun options.

[!TIP] Updates install over the previous version. Settings, NVRAM and disk differences are kept by the app.
