Overview
Crazy Taxi VR Standalone by Baywilly and Sito (Virtual Bays / Pixelacos VR) is an unofficial fan mod (not affiliated with SEGA) that turns SEGA's Android release of Crazy Taxi into a standalone VR game on Meta Quest. Pick up passengers, dodge traffic and race the clock in stereoscopic 3D, from a first-person cockpit (hold the wheel with the grips for motion steering), the classic chase camera or a miniature camera, with adjustable 3D depth, Crazy Dash and Crazy Drift.
[!NOTE] No game files are included and there is no ready-made APK. Crazy Taxi was removed from digital stores, so the release is an XDelta patch (
crazywilly.xdelta, about 250 MB) that you apply on a PC to your own copy of the Android game. The patch only works with one exact file: SEGA's Crazy Taxi for Android, version 6.0-80, in the APKM bundle namedcom.sega.CrazyTaxiplayhaven_6.0-80_2arch_7dpi_24lang_1feat_017e8b1c582569ff9682193551b7e22c_apkmirror.com.apkm. Other versions may not work. This is the first public beta.
Prerequisites
- Your own legally obtained copy of Crazy Taxi for Android, version 6.0-80 (the exact
.apkmfile above). - A PC (Windows, macOS or Linux) with Delta Patcher.
- A Meta Quest with Developer Mode enabled, a USB cable and SideQuest (or ADB).
Step-by-Step Installation
- Download
crazywilly.xdeltafrom the official GitHub release v0.1-beta. - Download and open Delta Patcher on your PC.
- In Original file, select your Crazy Taxi
.apkm(version 6.0-80). In XDelta patch, selectcrazywilly.xdelta. Click Apply patch and wait. - When it finishes, the original file has been patched: rename its extension from
.apkmto.apk. - Connect the Quest to the PC with USB, open SideQuest and install that
.apk(oradb install -r <file>.apk). - Disconnect the cable, open your library and launch Crazy Taxi VR Standalone, then pick your driver with the left stick and A.
Controls
- Left stick: steer. Right trigger: accelerate. Left trigger: brake. A / B: forward / reverse gear.
- Grips: hold the steering wheel in cockpit view; in the external views, Turbo Boost / Crazy Dash (left) and Crazy Drift (right).
- X / Y: next / previous camera. Right stick up/down: 3D depth; press: recenter. Menu: pause.
Patch fails or the app won't start: the xdelta only works on the exact Crazy Taxi 6.0-80 .apkm named in the guide; any other version or a re-packed file will not patch correctly. Remember to rename the patched file from .apkm to .apk before installing. Use the right stick to adjust 3D depth if the scale feels off, and press it to recenter. This is the first public beta and may contain bugs. Future updates and new mods from Virtual Bays are announced on their Telegram group (https://t.me/VirtualBays, Spanish-speaking) rather than GitHub. Unofficial fan project, not affiliated with SEGA.
