Overview
CTR Turbocharged VR by SgtBilko76 runs Naughty Dog's 1999 PlayStation kart racer Crash Team Racing natively on Meta Quest. It's built from the quest branch of a fork of CTR: Turbocharged, the PC source port based on ctr-native, with a GLES renderer path and an OpenXR layer added. Races (and every other one-player 3D scene, like the Adventure hub) are drawn in stereo around you: you sit at the game's chase camera and can look around freely. The race HUD floats on a panel in front of you, and menus and split-screen modes use a large flat virtual screen.
Install type: APK + your own game files.
[!IMPORTANT] No game data is included. You need your own NTSC-U (US) Crash Team Racing disc image (SCUS-94426) as a raw
.bin. Fan project, not affiliated with Sony, Activision, Naughty Dog or Meta.
[!NOTE] Beta. v0.1.0 (October 22, 2026) is the first Quest release, tested on Meta Quest 3.
Prerequisites
- A Meta Quest 3 with Developer Mode enabled.
- SideQuest or ADB on a computer.
- Your Crash Team Racing NTSC-U disc image (SCUS-94426) as a raw
.bin.
Step-by-Step Installation
1. Install the APK
Download CTR-Turbocharged-VR-v0.1.0.apk via 1-click on QuestPorts or from GitHub Releases. Install it with SideQuest or:
adb install -r CTR-Turbocharged-VR-v0.1.0.apk
2. Copy your disc image
Copy the disc image to the headset as / (in SideQuest: the folder icon, then CTR/):
adb push ctr-u.bin /sdcard/CTR/assets/ctr-u.bin
3. First launch
- Start CTR Turbocharged VR from Library > Unknown Sources.
- On the first start the Quest asks for file access: allow it, then start the app again.
Saves, config.ini and the log file are kept in /.
Controls (Touch controllers act as a PlayStation pad)
| Touch | PlayStation | In a race (default) |
|---|---|---|

| Left trigger | Square | Brake / reverse |
| A | Cross | Accelerate, confirm in menus |
| B | Circle | Weapon, back in menus |
| X | Square | Brake / reverse |

| Left stick | Analog stick | Steer |
| Right stick | D-pad | Menus |
| Right stick click | L2 | Camera near / far |
| Left stick click | Select | |
| Menu button (left) | Start | Pause |
Hold both stick clicks for one second to recentre the view. The game's own controller options can remap everything.
Settings (optional)
Create /, one key = value per line. Useful keys: stereo (1 = races and the Adventure hub in 3D around you, 0 = always the flat screen), refresh_rate (72, 80, 90, 120; default 120), world_scale (game units per metre, default 64; lower = the world looks bigger), level_horizon (1 keeps the horizon level), eye_scale (default 0.9), screen_width / screen_distance / screen_height for the virtual screen, steer_deadzone / steer_full for steering, and hud_distance / hud_width / hud_height for the race HUD panel.
The game doesn't start or finds no game: the disc image must be the NTSC-U (US) Crash Team Racing disc SCUS-94426 as a raw .bin, named exactly /sdcard/CTR/assets/ctr-u.bin. Nothing happens after the first start: allow file access when the Quest asks, then start the app again. The view is off-centre: hold both stick clicks for one second to recentre. You want a flat screen instead of 3D, or the world feels too big or small: set stereo = 0 or change world_scale in /sdcard/CTR/vr.cfg. Steering is too sensitive or sluggish: adjust steer_deadzone and steer_full in vr.cfg. Logs and saves are in /sdcard/CTR. App not in the Library: look under Unknown Sources; Developer Mode must be on. Fan project, not affiliated with Sony, Activision, Naughty Dog or Meta; no game data is provided.
