Step-by-Step Installation Guide

Install on Quest, in the card above, is the one-click USB install. These steps are the manual path (SideQuest or ADB).

Overview

F-Zero X VR runs F-Zero X natively on Meta Quest 3: no PC, no emulator, no streaming. heurazy built it as a native Android/OpenXR port on top of Zorkats' G-Diffuser (libultraship/Fast3D) and the F-Zero X decompilation. The game is drawn once per eye with true stereoscopic depth and 6DoF head tracking, while gameplay still advances at the original ~60 Hz.

VR extras: a wrist-mounted race HUD, an optional diorama mode, 360-degree sky rendering, foveated rendering, and the N64 Rumble Pak mapped to haptics on both Touch controllers. The default refresh rate is 90 Hz (configurable).

[!NOTE] No ROM is included. You need your own F-Zero X (USA) Rev 0 N64 ROM; the launcher validates it (SHA-1 5f658e88ffa9de23cba6986a8fd3d3a90d7b4340). Community port, not affiliated with Nintendo.

Prerequisites

  1. Meta Quest 3 with Developer Mode enabled.
  2. SideQuest (Advanced Installer) or ADB on a computer.

Troubleshooting & Tips

Only the F-Zero X (USA) Rev 0 ROM is accepted: the launcher checks it before launch, so other regions or revisions are rejected. If no compatible ROM is present, the app stays on its stereo OpenXR test scene instead of booting the game. v1.0.1 switched the default refresh rate to 90 Hz and fixed diorama course geometry disappearing; update from v1.0.0 if you see missing track pieces in diorama mode. Only Quest 3 is targeted.
