Overview
Majora's Mask VR turns The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask into a full-motion first-person VR game that runs standalone on Meta Quest: no PC, no cable, no streaming. It is a VR mod by FullDiveGames built on 2Ship2Harkinian, the native PC port of Majora's Mask, so the game runs natively rather than in an N64 emulator. A Windows PC VR build is released alongside the Quest APK.
Combat and items are physical: swing the sword (hold the trigger to charge a spin attack), block by placing the shield, draw the bow string, throw bombs and Deku Nuts, scoop with bottles, and bring a mask to your face to wear it. Climb hand over hand, pick items from a wheel at your hand, and play as Deku, Goron and Zora with their own gestures (Goron punches, Zora fin strikes and headset-directed swimming). Quest 3 holds a stable 90 fps by default, with an uncapped option.
[!NOTE] No game assets are included. You need your own clean dump of Majora's Mask (USA), N64 revision 1.0, or the N64 ROM from the US Zelda: Collector's Edition GameCube disc. Fan project, not affiliated with Nintendo. Public beta: the author says it is intended to be fully playable, but a complete playthrough has not been verified. The author states the mod was written with AI-assisted code.
Prerequisites
- Meta Quest 3 with Developer Mode enabled (Quest 2 is untested).
- SideQuest (Advanced Installer) or ADB on a computer.
- Your own uncompressed
.z64,.v64or.n64ROM (USA 1.0 or US Collector's Edition).
Step-by-Step Installation
1. Install the APK
Download MMVR-Quest-0.35.apk via 1-click on QuestPorts or from GitHub Releases and install it:
adb install -r MMVR-Quest-0.35.apk
Updating: install the newer APK over the existing one (or use System > Updates in the VR menu). Do not uninstall to update: uninstalling can delete your saves and settings.
2. Copy your ROM
Put your ROM anywhere the headset file picker can reach, for example the Download folder:
adb push your-mm-rom.z64 /sdcard/Download/
3. Extract and play
In the headset: App Library → Unknown Sources → Majora's Mask VR. In setup, select Choose Majora's Mask ROM, browse to your file and confirm. Extraction runs on the headset and does not modify your ROM. The app will likely close afterwards: start it again and play.
4. Optional: mods and texture packs
Create / or / and copy unzipped .o2r/.otr packs there. In the VR menu, open System > Mod library, choose Connect MMVR shared folder (Quest), grant access to the MMVR folder, refresh, tick the packs you want and restart. Mods are largely untested.

Save states are temporarily disabled in current builds: save with the in-game menu or owl statues, and make a normal save before every update. Cutscenes are a beta limitation (framing or transitions may be off, since the game was designed for third-person). If an item does nothing, release all buttons and check the selected item, ammo/magic, current form and whether a dialogue or cutscene owns control. Sword hits need a deliberate swing through the target; resting the blade on an enemy does not attack. To escape a ReDead or Gibdo grab, shake both controllers. The default 90 fps cap can be changed under Graphics > Frame timing (Uncapped, 90, 80, 72). Mods need unzipped .o2r/.otr packs in /sdcard/MMVR, a granted folder permission, refresh and a restart.
