Step-by-Step Installation Guide
Install on Quest, in the card above, is the one-click USB install. These steps are the manual path (SideQuest or ADB).
Overview
Victory Heat Rally VR by segadreamcat is an unofficial fan mod (not affiliated with the developers of Victory Heat Rally) that turns the retro arcade racer into a native, standalone Meta Quest VR game: cockpit view, a steering wheel you grab with your Touch controllers (or thumbstick steering), 120 Hz display, foveated rendering, haptics and cockpit colours that match your car. Once installed, no PC, Link or streaming is needed to play.
[!NOTE] No game files are included and there is no ready-made APK. The release is a Windows installer (
Install-Quest.bat) that patches your own Steam copy of the game, builds and signs the APK on your PC and installs it on the headset over USB. You need a Windows PC and a USB data cable to install (and again for each update).
Prerequisites
- Victory Heat Rally on Steam (your own copy, at the build the installer supports; it checks it).
- Meta Quest 3, 3S or 2 with Developer Mode enabled (Quest Pro should work, at 90 Hz).
- A Windows PC and a USB cable that carries data (e.g. the Link cable or the headset's cable).
Step-by-Step Installation
- Download
VictoryHeatRallyVR-Quest-v1.1.zipfrom the official GitHub release v1.1 and extract it (e.g. to your Documents folder). - Close the game. Plug the headset into the PC, put it on and accept Allow USB debugging (tick Always allow from this computer).
- Double-click
Install-Quest.bat. It finds your Steam copy (including other Steam library drives), downloads the tools it needs (UndertaleModTool CLI, Android platform-tools, OpenXR loader), patches the game data, builds and signsVHRQuest.apkand installs it. The first run takes a few minutes. - In the headset open Library → Unknown Sources → VHR Quest.
Game not found? Run Install-Quest.ps1 from PowerShell with -GameDirectory pointing at your Victory Heat Rally folder (see the README).
Updating: download the new version and run Install-Quest.bat again; saves and settings stay on the headset.
"A copy signed by someone else is installed": the app on the headset was built on another PC; uninstall VHR Quest from the headset (this also removes its saves) and run the installer again. If the view looks warped, change Lens Fit in the Video options from Sharp (fits Quest 3 lenses) to Medium or Safe. Advanced settings (e.g. refresh=120) go one key=value per line in vhrq.txt. After a problem, with the headset plugged in, run Get-QuestLog.bat and attach the files in its logs folder to a GitHub issue.
