Step-by-Step Installation Guide

Install on Quest, in the card above, is the one-click USB install. These steps are the manual path (SideQuest or ADB).

Overview

Wiicompiled VR PLUS is heurazy's fork of iChris4's Wiicompiled VR (an OpenXR port of WiiCompiled). Mario Kart Wii is statically recompiled to native code: on Quest the ARM64 build runs locally with Vulkan and OpenXR, not through a Wii emulator, interpreter or JIT. Mario Kart Wii and Retro Rewind are both available from the in-headset launcher.

VR features: original, first-person cockpit and diorama cameras (right-stick click cycles), tracked hands that grip and turn the kart wheel or handlebars (one or two hands), character body IK in the cockpit, a left-hand race HUD with map and items, spatial VR menus and tutorials, and Touch Plus controller models.

[!NOTE] No ROM, Nintendo assets or translated executable are distributed. You need your own clean, unmodified PAL RMCP01 Mario Kart Wii disc image and build the game on your own device. Quest standalone is a preview tested on Quest 3; frame interpolation is disabled on Quest.

Prerequisites

  1. Meta Quest 3 with Developer Mode enabled.
  2. Your own clean PAL RMCP01 disc image (ISO, GCM, GCZ, CISO, WBFS, WIA or RVZ).
  3. SideQuest or ADB.

Step-by-Step Installation

1. Install the APK

Download WiiCompiled-VR-Quest3-v1.3.1.apk via 1-click on QuestPorts or from GitHub Releases and install it:

adb install -r WiiCompiled-VR-Quest3-v1.3.1.apk

2. Import your disc

Open WiiCompiled once and import your PAL disc image in the launcher, or copy your extracted DATA directory to:

adb push DATA /sdcard/Android/data/org.wiicompiled.quest/files/WiiCompiledOpenXRVR/DATA

3. Build the game

Use Build on this Quest (or copy a matching .wcgame built with the PC tools into the launcher's Import directory and reopen the launcher).

4. Play

Select Mario Kart Wii or Retro Rewind (the launcher can download the Retro Rewind pack). After setup the game runs without a PC.

Updating: after installing a new APK, rebuild your local game with the updated game kit. Saves and configuration are kept.

Troubleshooting & Tips

Only a clean, unmodified PAL RMCP01 image is accepted; other regions and modified executables are rejected. After every app update, rebuild your game on the headset or it will show as out of date. Frame interpolation is intentionally unavailable on Quest (the game still simulates at its normal 60 Hz while head tracking runs at the headset refresh rate). The stock Dawn APK has no fixed foveation (fragment density map); a source build enables it. Character body IK can be toggled in VR settings > Cameras. Retro Rewind online play depends on Retro WFC availability. Report issues on the GitHub repository.
