Step-by-Step Installation Guide

Install on Quest, in the card above, is the one-click USB install. These steps are the manual path (SideQuest or ADB).

Overview

Crisis Zone VR plays the arcade version of Crisis Zone (Namco, World CSZO4 Ver. B, not the PlayStation 2 version) natively on Meta Quest 3. It is built from the Crisis Zone 0.9.0 release of spacestate1/namco22-decompile (the arcade's code reconstructed natively) and the VR host of DR-89's Time Crisis II VR. Gameplay uses tracked stereo geometry; you hold the blue Namco arcade pistol in either hand, with Crisis Zone's automatic fire, ammunition and cover/reload mechanics.

Install type: ready APK.

[!WARNING] This APK bundles the original game content. DR-89 ships the Crisis Zone arcade data and weapon models inside the release: on first launch the app copies the bundled files into its private storage, so there is no file picker or importer. The port code is MIT licensed; the original game programs, graphics, sound and trademarks keep their original rights. Unofficial fan project, not affiliated with Bandai Namco.

[!NOTE] v0.1.4 is the first public release. It has been played and confirmed working on Quest 3; Quest 2/3S are not confirmed. The arcade version is single-player. The APK (org.crisiszone.vr) installs alongside both Time Crisis ports. A Windows OpenXR/desktop build is also on the release page.

Prerequisites

  • Meta Quest 3 with Developer Mode enabled (Meta Horizon phone app > Headset Settings > Developer Mode; first-time setup needs a verified Meta developer account).
  • A PC with SideQuest or Android SDK Platform-Tools (ADB), and a USB data cable.

Step-by-Step Installation

  1. Download the Quest APK (CrisisZoneVR-v0.1.4-quest3.apk) from the official GitHub Releases (checksums in SHA256SUMS.txt).
  2. Connect your Quest 3 via USB, put on the headset and accept Allow USB debugging.
  3. Install via SideQuest or terminal (on Windows, from the platform-tools folder): adb install -r CrisisZoneVR-v0.1.4-quest3.apk
  4. After Success, open Library > Unknown sources > Crisis Zone VR (Test). The first launch extracts the bundled game content.
  5. Press A to insert credits and pull the trigger to start.

For updates, install the new APK over the existing app with the same command; -r keeps your settings and cabinet data, no uninstall needed.

Options keep the Time Crisis ports' GUN ANGLE (-60 to +60 degrees), WORLD SIZE (25-400%), VIEW DISTANCE (0-100 cm), physical ducking and gun grip offsets. Right stick click in options changes the default hand. Settings save automatically.

Troubleshooting & Tips

The initial world scale is provisional: adjust WORLD SIZE in options (left menu button) if the world looks too big or small, and GUN ANGLE if shots go high or low. Wide views can show scenery that the original arcade camera never showed. Updates: install the new APK over the old one with adb install -r to keep settings and cabinet data. Quest logs are in the app's private files (crisiszone-vr.log and crisiszone-vr-previous.log); report problems on the GitHub issues with version, headset and what happened. Validation details and known limitations: docs/VALIDATION.md in the repository. Single-player only.
