Step-by-Step Installation Guide
Install on Quest, in the card above, is the one-click USB install. These steps are the manual path (SideQuest or ADB).
Overview
Metal Gear Solid VR Standalone by Baywilly (Virtual Bays), the developer of Crazy Taxi VR Standalone, brings Konami's 1998 PlayStation classic Metal Gear Solid to Meta Quest as a standalone VR game, with no PC needed while you play. You can switch at any time between Virtual Reality, Mixed Reality (the game in your room through passthrough) and a Cabin mode, jump into a first-person view, and use Snake's radio, weapons and items from the Touch controllers. The menus support multiple languages.
Install type: APK + your own game files.
These steps follow the project's own install instructions: Metal Gear Solid VR Standalone README.
[!IMPORTANT] No game files are included. The project does not distribute Metal Gear Solid, ROMs or disc images. You need the Disc 1 and Disc 2 images (
.bin+.cue) from your own legally owned PlayStation copy of Metal Gear Solid. Fan project, not affiliated with Konami, Kojima Productions or Meta.
[!NOTE] Beta. V0.1-beta (September 15, 2026) is the first public beta, published as a prerelease. The game is playable, but bugs and visual issues may still occur. The README lists Quest 3, Quest 3S, Quest Pro and Quest 2 (plus Pico 4 / 4 Ultra, which use a separate APK).
Prerequisites
- A Meta Quest headset with Developer Mode enabled.
- SideQuest (or ADB) on a computer and a USB-C data cable.
- Both discs of your own copy of Metal Gear Solid, as
.bin+.cuefiles, in one of the supported versions below.
Supported disc versions (one per language)
| Language | Required discs |
|---|---|
| English | Metal Gear Solid (USA) (Disc 1) + (Disc 2) |
| Spanish | Metal Gear Solid (Spain) (Disc 1) + (Disc 2) |
| French | Metal Gear Solid (France) (Disc 1) + (Disc 2) |
| German | Metal Gear Solid (Germany) (Disc 1) + (Disc 2) |
| Italian | Metal Gear Solid (Italy) (Disc 1) + (Disc 2) |
| Japanese | Metal Gear Solid (Japan Asia) (Disc 1) (Ichi) + (Disc 2) (Ni) (Premium Package) |
Step-by-Step Installation
1. Install the APK
Download MGSVR-Quest.apk via 1-click on QuestPorts or from GitHub Releases (use the Quest APK, not MGSVR-Pico.apk). Install it with SideQuest (Install APK file from folder) or:
adb install -r MGSVR-Quest.apk
2. Run it once
Open Library > Unknown Sources > MGSVR, accept the requested permissions, then close the game. The first launch creates the folders the game needs, including one folder per language.
3. Prepare your discs
If your discs are zipped, extract both ZIP files. Do not copy the .zip files. You need four files: the .bin and .cue of Disc 1 and the .bin and .cue of Disc 2.
4. Copy them into your language folder
Copy all four files into the language folder the game created that matches your disc version. The app looks in / (for example languages/ for the USA discs):
adb push "Metal Gear Solid (USA) (Disc 1).bin" "Metal Gear Solid (USA) (Disc 1).cue" /sdcard/languages/English/
adb push "Metal Gear Solid (USA) (Disc 2).bin" "Metal Gear Solid (USA) (Disc 2).cue" /sdcard/languages/English/
Check the actual folder names on your headset with SideQuest's file browser. When you're done, the folder must contain the BIN and CUE files of both discs. On first start the game prepares the discs in its own MGSVR folder, so keep some free space.
5. Start the game
Launch MGSVR again and pick your language. "Everything is ready, Snake."

"A disc is missing": copy the .bin and .cue of both Disc 1 and Disc 2 into the same language folder (under /sdcard/languages/), extracted, not as .zip files. The game doesn't start the disc: make sure your dump matches the supported version for that language (USA for English, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, or Japan Asia Premium Package) and that the .cue file names match their .bin files. "Not enough space while copying discs": free up storage on the headset, since the game prepares the discs in its own MGSVR folder on first start. Folders weren't created: launch the game once and accept the storage permissions, then close it. The controllers don't respond as expected: check the controller layout images on the release page for your language. The camera isn't centered: click the right stick to recenter. The game doesn't appear on the headset: look under Unknown Sources; Developer Mode must be on. Report bugs (with screenshots or videos) through the repository's Issues. Fan project, not affiliated with Konami, Kojima Productions or Meta; no game files are provided.
