Overview

Port0r: Cop VR brings the 1994 arcade light-gun shooter Virtua Cop (Sega Model 2) to Meta Quest in true stereoscopic 3D at real scale, not a flat screen floating in a room. The arcade code runs through MAME (0.289), but every 3D polygon the Model 2 board draws is redrawn on the Quest's GPU for each eye, so shots land on what you aim at in the 3D world. It's from the same developer as Port0r: Rally VR.

New in v0.2.0: Sega's blue Virtua Gun in your hand like on the cabinet (the pistol is still in Settings > Game > Gun), the weapons you pick up (rifle, automatic, machine gun, shotgun, magnum) appear in your hand in 3D, a gun-angle setting, remappable buttons, a Discord leaderboard and in-app updates.

[!NOTE] No game data is included. You need your own, legally owned copy of the arcade game as the MAME sets vcop.zip and model1io2.zip. The sets must match MAME 0.289. Fan project, not affiliated with SEGA or Meta.

Prerequisites

  1. Meta Quest 3 (the reference headset).
  2. Developer Mode enabled (free developer organisation at developer.oculus.com, then Meta Horizon app → Devices → Headset settings → Developer mode, then restart the headset).
  3. Your MAME 0.289 vcop.zip and model1io2.zip, kept zipped.
  4. SideQuest or ADB on a computer (or just the headset's browser for the game files).

Step-by-Step Installation

1. Install the APK

Download Port0r-CopVR-v0.2.0-quest3.apk via 1-click on QuestPorts, from GitHub Releases or itch.io. Install it with SideQuest (Install APK file from folder) or:

adb install -r Port0r-CopVR-v0.2.0-quest3.apk

The APK checksum is in SHA256SUMS.txt on the release page.

2. Copy your game files

Put vcop.zip and model1io2.zip in the headset's Download folder. The app searches the whole storage, so a ROMS folder from other emulators works too.

adb push vcop.zip /sdcard/Download/
adb push model1io2.zip /sdcard/Download/

3. First launch

  1. Library → filter All → Unknown sources → Port0r: Cop VR.
  2. Allow All files access when asked.
  3. Return to the app: the game is copied in and starts by itself. Until then, a setup screen lists the missing files.

Controls

Action Button
Aim / shoot Point the right controller and pull the trigger
Reload Shoot below the screen, like on the cabinet
Insert coin / Start X / B
Settings panel Left menu button (screen size, your height, crosshair, gun, gun angle, buttons)
Recenter Y

Updating: Cop VR offers new versions at launch and installs them from the headset; settings are kept.

Troubleshooting & Tips

Files reported missing: names must be vcop.zip and model1io2.zip, kept zipped, and All files access must be allowed (Settings > Apps > Port0r: Cop VR > Permissions). "Wrong version of the game files": the sets must match MAME 0.289; rebuild them with a ROM manager (ClrMamePro, RomVault) and drop the corrected zips on the headset. If shots go high or low, adjust Settings > Game > Gun angle. Controllers do nothing: restart the headset. App not in the Library: look under Unknown sources; Developer Mode must be on and the headset restarted. Help: #install-help and #bugs on the Port0r Discord. Fan project, not affiliated with SEGA or Meta; no game data is provided.
